enabling vnc server from registry

Post by griam01 »

During the installation, I did not choose to run vnc server as a service, can I change that through the registry, or must I reinstall to have it come up automatically each time on all the systems?

Under the Start menu - Programs - Ultra VNC - Ultr@VNC Server folder. (respectively)

Install WinVNC Service, if that isnt there just go to start - run and respectivly type in -

"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\winvnc.exe" -install

Changing the path to where you actually installed it.

Thank you for the response..

I have done that, but when the user logs in the next time and VNC runs, it prompts them to put in a password again, even though it is already entered from the previous connection.

Do you know if there is a way around that?

The password you entered the previous time, was a User Password (AKA User Settings). Now that you've set up UltraVNC as a system service, you need a system-password (AKA Default Settings). This is only asked once. If you enter a password you'll have rid yourself of this enormous problem :D

I know that problem too. I install uvnc on 20 computers at school and it is boring, confusing and timeconsuming to set these two passwords everytime vhen installing. There is an option during installation process - install as a service, so it would be fine if I could set this password at the same time. Currently there is also problem that when I set the password for the first time, it gets lost and I am forced to set it again (W98SE)
