Problem connecting to uvnc.com ???

Post by nightskater »

Hi,
i've been using your software for a while ... i don't understand why i can't always connect using repeater uvnc.com ?
I'm using a repeater connection sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
and i get the this message(on server information):

Connect repeater success
Setting up encryption
Waiting for Viewer...
Read Failed
10054
Encryption failed. if using proxy, new repeater listening to 443
An existing connection was forcibly closed by remote host
An existing connection was forcibly closed by remote host
Init Network failed

yesterday was working just fine, today didn't ...tomorrow ...who knows
(i'm connecting to internet using an dynamic ip adress, and there were no changes on network configuration or router)
Please help if u got any ideea !

Running your own repeater is pretty simple -- all you need to do is:
  • Download the latest release (currently release 1.0) which contains phw_repeater.exe in the "repeater" directory. You must use the PCHelpWare repeater, NOT the UltraVNC repeater from the uvnc package.
  • Run the repeater on an internet facing computer, or set up port forwarding on your router to point ports 5901 and 5500 to the computer running the repeater. Go into the settings in the repeater and ensure that they are set to the correct values, and check the log (double click the repeater icon in the system tray) to make sure it's all running OK
  • Optionally, to make life easier, register with a dynamic DNS service such as http://www.dyndns.org, if you don't have your own domain name associated with the computer running the repeater.
  • Set up your PCHelpWare viewers and servers to use your repeater as per usual.
For us, the repeater was the easiest part of the whole PCHW setup!

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am wrong, but I believe that the uvnc.com repeater is provided as a convenience so that you can download PCHW and get started immediately, if you are planning to do remote support you should rely on your repeater, not the uvnc.com one. I have found that with infrequent use our repeater tends to get its knickers in a twist and needs restarting every week or so.
