Unknown Rectangle encoding

Post by kupfistanton »

Hello to everybody.
Just trying Single Click on a XP Machine. I want to connect to a Mac on which Chicken VNC is listening.
If I try to connect to the Mac I get following error message: unknown rectangle encoding 61933 -> exiting

Does anybody know how I can solve this problem???

Thanks for your help

SC does not follow the rfb protocol.
To minimize size some code has been removed and replaced by smaller parts.

Only works with our viewer

SC rectangle Encoding

Post by kupfistanton »

Is it possible to find another way which would work a Mac???
VNC Server is really working fin, but one XP machine is changing IP Adresses dynamically and therefore the XP machine should establish a connection to my viewer, which is running on mac.

I too would request that you use a standard protocol, or at least make a version which is compatible, it's very important for me to support with SC.

I agree: Please make bigger-but-more-complete SC available!

Being a 100% mac-user I administer quite q few windows PCs using VNC. Now, I'd love to use SC, pushing a clients screen to my mac - but I do get the same "unknown rectangle encoding" errors using Chicken of the VNC as a listening daemon and SC as the server.

Pleeease make a "compatible" Version available - my clients nor I nor probably many others would mind downloading a bigger executable.

I'd love to help you test anything if this becomes necessary and I'd also be willing to donate for the cause.

Regards from Hamburg, Germany,
Christian.

copyrect hextile

If your viewer supports copyrect or hextile encodings you might be able to make it work. I've had success with tightvnc under linux using these two, although another encoding would be preferrable.

SC PC's connecting to VNC Viewer on Mac OS X

Post by danboarder »

I use uvnc SC on Windows machines, connecting to Vine Viewer on my Mac OS X.
( non-free, http://www.redstonesoftware.com/product ... index.html )

Their demo version works "out of the box", just be sure to check:
Preferences > VNC > Listen for reverse connections, port 5500.

The only showstopper for me is how Vine defaults to "millions of colors", which can be slow with SC over the web.

I know this is an old topic, but I have found a free VNC client that works the best I have found
http://www.jinx.de/JollysFastVNC.html
Works with SC as well as everything else, not to mention the developer is very nice as well. (No I am not the Developer)
