Repeater Woes

Post by Backspace »

Testing repeater over WAN connections.
(3 different networks) run SC on one, while running the viewer on another and Repeater is running on my network.

Repeater running on my file server
Mode 2 only
“Restrict Access to Server port” = 0
“Only Allow ID nnn” = enabled
5901 Accept
5500 Listen
Ports 5901 and 5500 forwarded to this system from router

SC set up to connect as follows:

-idnnn -connect mydomainname.com::5500 –noregistry

Viewer settings are as follows: (UVNC 1.01)

Vnc server ID = id:nnn
Proxy/repeater = mydomainname.com:5901

How I’ve Tested
I run SC from a customer’s network
Repeater log on my network server shows: Server Added To List nnn
COOL!

Now I run viewer from a totally different customer’s system with settings described above.

NOTHING

NOT COOL

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help in setting me straight on this.

OK - I fixed it myself. Here's what happened.

TAKE NOTE
On the viewer you HAVE to use ID:nnn

ID must be in UPPER CASE NOT lower case, ie... id:nnn

Cool---I learn something every day; sometimes 2 or 3 things.
