My local IP address is dynamic but I have a website hosted in the US which has, of course, a static IP in conjunction with UltraVNC.
Is there a possibility to use the latter IP? I have looked at http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm and while it seems that the explanation is there, I am very hesitant to go ahead with it.
Your comment(s) and/or help would be appreciated.
Norbert

Re: Static & dynamic IP question
I would use the static ip for a repeater.
Another option maybe pchelpware but it really depends on how you are using ultra vnc and what you plan to do with it..

Re: Static & dynamic IP question
Thanks for reply, bevtech
First off, the following sentence in my post was incorrect.
The next sentence should have been "Is there a possibility to use the latter IP in conjunction with UltraVNC" but I think you understood anyway.
OK, where do I find easy to understand info about a repeater.
While I have no problem with UltraVNC within my office environment, I want to be able to
a) access computer from home so I can do some work from there, and
b) I am thinking of allowing my accountant access as well but for that I want first to see if I can restrict accountant's access to the pertaining program only and nothing else I don't want her to fiddle around with non-password protect stuff But that's a different cup of tea altogether...

Re: Static & dynamic IP question
well the step by steps are a good place to start
The dynamic dns service would make your dynamic ip a fixed address
sites for that service
www.dyndns.org
www.noip.com
A link for the step by steps
