Now that I have this working I realise that the remote server has to initiate connection.

The reason I wanted to use this is becuase the directx support and screen refresh is supposed to be great on the LAN.
But, if I have to initate the remote from the server all the time it is of little use to me.

Is there a VNC or workaround with this to give a good as remote display as this purportedly does?

This may be a mute point anyway, since I cannot get the video hook to work in one of my computers(yellow exclamation mark), since that computer has a card called an ERIC card in it that remote controls even if computer is switched off.

Trying it now on another computer also, but maybe I will just go back to ultravnc cos the video hook driver seems to work even with that ERIC card.

The PcHelpware aims as a tool of helpdesk, thus designed to be initiated at server side. If you want to do some remote control job then the conventional vnc product will be more suitable for you.

If the server computer is a XP Prof. system, you may consider using the build-in Remote Desktop function. I believe its reponse is acceptable in LAN, and it is initiate at the viewer side (as you wish).

But there are drawback too, like:
- Not support Direct3D, DirectDraw Accerleration, so not suitable to run those applications require these features.
- When anyone logon remotely, any user physcially at the server's desktop will be forced to log off (XP provides ONE desktop access to one user only)

Yeh, I know the limitations, that's why this product looked so darned good.

I could have got around the remote initiate problem by remotely running the server's executable from the viewer computer after starting the viewer, but I could not get the vnc hook display driver to load either, even after a server reboot.
I just kept getting the yellow exclamation mark.
The thing is, the ultravnc display driver works a charm!

Must be some sort of difference between the pchelpware display driver and the VNC display driver.
