trouble direct connection LAN

Post by myjess »

I have no idea what I AM DOING. i HAVE BEEN RUNNING VNC FOR YEARS BUT THIS PCHELPWARE IS DRIVING ME NUTS. oNLY REASON i AM USING IT IS COS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO REDRAW DIRECTX SCREENS FAST.

Oops sorry - shouting...

I have read the guides and follwed these threads but I have no idea how to get it working.

When I do a viewer as direct and then create server, it always goes out to the internet for something and then comes back with rubbish in the server IP field.
I type in the correct server IP addy and then after creating, I save the config.

I then go to the server and run the pchelpware server exe file which bring up the login window, when I try to login, a message window(which is not big enough and has no scroll bars) opens uptarget machine a and says something about no connection could be made because target machine a.......
Init Network failed

I think I am suppsed to go back to the viewer then and click on start, am I? that is, if the server started ok, which it is not.

HELP!

Thanks.

paste your copy helpdesk.txt here, please.

please change "help" by other word is explicit about what you want to do."trouble direct connection LAN"

did you try:
direct (real direct) ?
direct dynalias?
via repeater ?

uvnc.com dynhost is buggy or maybe stupid guy try to hack dynalias and overhead/loop the uvnc.com repeater.

Which folder do I take this file from.

I will post it tomorrow as it is getting late now.

But just to say, I have tried direct and no others. uPNP is also switched off cos it didn't work.

If I could even find out what the messagebox says on the top left of the screen when it has an error, I could work more from there.

Thanks.

Same problem. Garbage instead of actual IP in the field...

if you have firewall and your ip is not routable, so you can use only to your internal LAN nor Internet.

open and forward port 5500 from your windows firewall if enabled at viewer side to your computer where you run pchelpware_viewer

pchelpware_viewer require password filled before Start and before PcHelpWare_server Connect.

I only want to use my local network at the moment. I have no firewall on the server. It is not that. I need to know what that error message states.
Is there a way of logging all errors?

Thanks.

Hi! myjess,

Please see if the following explanation can help to solve you problem.

When you run the Viewer to creat an Alias, and then the server, PcHelpware assume this is The Computer where viewer will run in future.
When I do a viewer as direct and then create server, it always goes out to the internet for something and then comes back with rubbish in the server IP field.
When creating the server in Direct, PcHelpWare always assume the server computer will connect to THIS COMNPUTER via internet (WAN), so PcHelpWare tries to detect the WAN IP of this computer. (need to detect, becasue your computer may locate behind a router). So you can ignor the "rubbish in the server IP field" -- if you just want to use it at internal LAN.
I type in the correct server IP addy and then after creating, I save the config
The created server, will call the viewer at this IP -- i.e. this is the IP of the computer running the viewer, NOT THE IP OF COMPUTER RUNNING SERVER. Were you doing right?
So if you want to run PcHelpWare in LAN, enter the IP of the computer that the viewer will run on.

Finally, in order to have a success connection in DIRECT, the viewer should start first (to wait the server). Also, don't forget to input the Password (of course, the one you used to creat the server).

I wrote open port 5500 to windows firewall at viewer side !!!!

at the moment, not possible to resize the windows for read complete message at server side.

classic ultravnc = viewer ---> server
viewer initiate ougtoing connection to server listening

pchelpware = server ---> viewer
server initiate (Connect) outgoing connection to viewer listening
so server must know the ip of viewer
