Balloons on sever side are not visible on the viewer.
(E. g. the balloon over the PHW system tray icon)
With UVNC, however, they are visible.
Tested with XP-SP2 both side, repeater - mode 2, both PHW and SC GUI

On the viewer site you can activate the capture layer (button toolbar viewer)
Capturing layered windows use more server cpu, so capture is an option.
