Unloading VNC SERVER leaves WinVNC

Post by OldNick »

I am using Win98 SE, and UltraVNC 1.0.0 RC18

If I start up the VNC Server applet, and it appears in the Tray, then right-click and close down, it disappears. But if I then try to re-start it, I get the message "Another instance of WInVNC is already running".

I am not quite sure what the situation is here.

Any help appreciated

Was that a silly question? Does nobody else have the problem or know the answer?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.

Under Win98, Ctrl-Alt-Del does not list Winvnc as running at all, even when the UltraVNC server is still active, which is curious. There is a taskman, which also does not recognise it. :?

I do have a little programme that will show it and allow me to kill it. It's called procexp. I can use this to kill winvnc so I can restart the server if I close it down, but it seems strange that WinVNC does not even appear to Win98. I wondered if there was something I was not doing.
