Black screen. I read FAQ but I couldn't find the answer

Post by superpollo65 »

Sorry if you know that it's a classical question, but I found answer in FAQ and the link in the thread it's not working.

I found easy installing ultravnc in server or viewer but in all computers I see black screen in viewer.
I tried to start server as app or as service and the situation it's the same
I tried in many computers and in two differnt LAN.
I've XP SP2 in all.

Can anyone help me ?
Regards

I'm having this issue too, and it's most frustrating. I have VNC working like a charm on all but one XP home machine, where suddenly I started having the black screen issue.

I'm not using remote desktop or fast user switching. It's not an issue with the target machines, because I can VNC to them from my other machines just fine. It's not my firewall, because again, I can VNC all over the place from other machines behind that same firewall.

It's not even weirdness introduced with the IE7 upgrade (and there's plenty of that) because the XP Pro installation on Parallels on my intel mac has IE 7, and it can connect fine to all my "usual suspect" machines.

I need VNC daily to do my job. I'm having to go to a different machine from my main one to do this. It's got to be something local to this machine, but I can't figure out what it could be.

Does Anybody have any ideas?

Tried fix1 first, then fix2. neither fixes my black screen problem. Thanks for trying, though!

Thank for your answer.
There's a connection (it ask me password) using port 5900. I disabled all firewall (I'm testing in a LAN, I have a router, so the IP address is 192.168.1.3).
Tried fix1 and fix2 but no way.
I have IE7 and XP Home

Do you have any other idea ?

Best regards
