hide the connection status windows?

Hi,
I think I read somewhere, I don't know if it was on this board or elsewhere, but I can't find it anywhere now

Is there a way to launch a connection via the viewer without the network connection window popping up? It's getting really annoying because the status windows pops to the front and the password windows goes to the back... Picky, but annoying nonetheless.

Any ideas?
