Failed service startup before logon

Post by msing »

I am getting a Failed Service Startup error when Windows Server 2003 first starts up and is sitting at the logon screen. I don't have this problem on Win XP Pro or Xp Home, only on Windows Server 2003.

UVNC seems to work fine, however I would like to be rid of the error message, if someone could help me out ;]

Here's the event viewer readout:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7001
Date: 12/2/2006
Time: 10:06:03 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ARCHIMEDES
Description:
The vnccom service depends on the vncdrv service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Seems to have something to do with the hook driver. Although I don't know what, and honestly I don't even really know what the hook driver does, and I've never had to worry about it.

Anyone mind filling me in, and maybe helping me be rid of this annoying error msg?

I don't know what that problem is , either, but it is hanging my system (occasionally) on bootup, too.
I am running Win XP.

Anyone know the reason/solution for this?

The hook driver is other wise know as the UltraVNC Mirror Driver. Have you installed it? After you remotely connect to the 2003 machine, you can find if the driver is installed using [topic=6966][/topic].
