SSL Connection?

Post by Shaba1 »

Are ssl connections generally allow INBOUND thru a firewall or a NAT. I ask this becasue I see a lot of people asking/suggesting to use and ssl connection with SC on the forums here. Besided that obvious benifit of an encrypted connection would not and ssl Connect face many of the same problems that as 'standard' SC in not being able to connect to the viewer that is behind a firewall.

Not sure if this answers your question, but I use the viewer behind a firewall. I have the OpenSSH server running on a PC listening to port 443 (SSL) and connect using PuTTY with a tunnel set up to the VNC server port. There's a pretty good explanation at http://pigtail.net/LRP/vnc/. I could have probably set it up using SSL as well.
