SC in WAN!!!

Post by venproit »

Hi!
Thank you to all the guys who are behind this UltraVNC single click.
I could set it up and it works fine.
But I have a very strange scenario when I use the DSM plugin. Some more assistance is required.

The scenario -

I have tested the SC on LAN and WAN without the DSM plugin and it is working fine.
I used the setup file "UltraVNC-102-Setup" to install and from the "C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\plugin" I copied the "MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm" to the "C:\Program Files\UltraVNC folder and renamed it as "MSRC4Plugin.dsm".
I also generated the "rc4" registration key using the plugin and VNC viewer.
I zipped the whole set of files and generated the "exe" file online.
The SC works fine with the encryption when used in LAN.

WAN Scenario :
I assigned a PC beside me with a WAN IP and installed the VNC thru
"UltraVNC-102-Setup" and made the VNC viewer listen on the default port 5500. I also did the necessary changes to the "helpdesk.txt" regarding
the WAN IP and encryption.

When I test the SC with the encrypted exe file from my PC to the PC with WAN IP then it is working fine.
But when I send the same exe file to my brother in USA, I get an error message "Connection failed - invalid protocol" on the PC with the WAN IP running VNC viewer listen mode when he tries to establish a connection.

Does anybody have an idea about this? Please assist - I made an effort to explain my issue in detail, pl get back to me if you need any clarifications.

Thanks

Did you change the ports from there defaults??

Did you include the *.dsm and rc4.key in your Custom.zip??

Did you open the ports you are using on your firewall??

Make sure that either ISP isnt blocking or limiting ports >1024

Just some ideas..Hope they help you..:D

you are experienced user of SC
is time to upgrade to pchelpware without dsmplugin,
pchelpware native encrypted communication and a lot better improved quality than SC (in my opinion)

yes,
I did change the port to default port, and firewall is disabled.
I would try the pchelpware. Lets see how it works.

Thanks for the links - let me research on pchelpware :)

Hi!
I followed the setp-by-setp and compiled an exe for pc_helpware. When tried on LAN thru ports 5500 and 80, it works absolutely fine.
But when I change to WAN IP with port 80 - I get this error message "DirectX failed to initialize" on the WAN PC running pc-helpware viewer.
Any guesses where I went wrong or am I missing something?

Thank you
Regards
Hari
