UVNC is VERY slow with monitor+tv playing a movie on hd....

Post by cdj »

Hi,

I have a multimon configuration, with one of the monitors being my television. I watch movies from my desktop on tv (long svideo). I control the desktop from the couch with my laptop/uvnc.

When the movie is playing, and I connect, uvnc responsiveness is generally ok for about 3-10 seconds. After that, the lag is about 30 seconds between me physically moving the mouse, and that phyisical movement being captured/responded to by uvnc.

I have my viewer settings set to LAN.

Does uvnc just not perform well under my setup? Or am I misconfiguring something?

Note also that cpu on the desktop is never very high. It's a dual 2.4 Xeon box.

Thanks for any ideas!

I'm not entirely sure, but I would think that the 11Mb or even 54Mb bandwidth you'd get from a standard wireless network setup (not pre-n etc.) wouldn't possibly be able to handle enough FPS for a television signal.

Also, is the video playback on your PC on monitor 1 or 2?
