SC Screen remains blank

Post by layoric »

I'm testing with my wife. Having her run the SC application from her work to connect to me at my workplace.

Connecting to port 770 (which I know to be open on my end), and running listener (ultraVNC1.02 viewer) with the -listen 770 switches.

It connects quick enough, but the screen remains a constant black/blank. She continues to work on her end, sees the icon in the taskbar at that point, but that's it. Is there another setting I could try?

OK, as a further test, I had her attempt to connect to our home pc, running ultravnc server on a totally different port, and the SAME THING happened, except with her connecting to a server from a viewer, now SHE sees the blank screen where nothing loads.

Apparently her network is blocking something at her workplace. What techniques could be employed to get a connection to work, perhaps the repeater? If so, how would that circumvent what may be going on within her network?

Thanks,

Kirk

well that really depends on what kind of a firewall your wife has at work. For single click it would be best to test in a LAN first then when working switch to a WAN network like a buddies house...;)

Yes, I did. It works here on our lan no problem. She's the 'buddy' as it were. Any suggestions/help?

Usual a black screen means that a firewall jumpin after a few bytes that are send.
He let you make a connection, but block all other data....

You could try Pchelpware (beta), it has a option to use the https proxy;
perhpas they don't block that.
