SC speed issues ... new user.

Post by craigmusgrove »

Afternoon all.
I like this UltraVNC SC ... works great when it works.
Cable internet.. connecting 2 routers to the cable modem. Ultra VNC listening server on router 1 (port 5500 passed), router 2 has computer I want to connect to.
Computer connected to router 2 runs the .exe file I created and thru the request comes to the Ultra VNC listener computer behind router 1.
Connects fine.. great speed... FYI I see the connection stats as Encoder Hexfile port 2795 speed 17930 kbit/s. Nice.
Send the .exe file to a client of mine a 10 minute drive away. When we run the same procedure, that connection is so SLOW it does nto work and disconnects 1/2 the time. Connection stats show Encoder ZRLE port 26381 189kbit/s. Useless.
I have been fighting with this for some time. I should be able to get this working! All remote connections have slow connections so I know its not jsut that 1 client computer.
Any ideas?

Very interesting reply.. read the link thanks.
But I RDP into this exact same computer (port 3389) and there is NO speed issue. It works great.
I also use occasionally some peer to peer transfer software which uses ports higher than 1024 with no speed issue.
I will modify Ultravnc both client and server side, but based on what is working here already, I dont think this is the proper solution.
I am thinking I should be concentrating more on the protocol used for the connection ?????

just an idea..;)

Take the viewer off of auto and select the encoding that is best for you.

What I mostly do is load the mirror driver on the host machine. That speeds it right up most of the time..;)

I have contacted my ISP and I have no limits or blocks in place at all.
I have also updated firmware on my linksys router to make sure I am in line there as well.
