Can connect with self, but not with friend

How do I connect to a friend with SC?
I have finally been able to connect between my laptop and desktop (support) with encryption.

I have a link on my website. When a friend clicks and runs the file, they get waitin for connection I get nothing. I have the file uisng 192.168.0.3

What do I have to do?

if you don't have static ip
you should subscribe and use your dynamic dns account and run your client dyndns to your side or to your router if it available.
and input your address like example: home.dyndns.org to your helpdesk.txt for replace 192.168.0.3

then to your router or broadband router or router adsl, whatever the name,
you should forward port 5500 to your computer name or internal private ip address

that all.

huh? I'm not familiar with all the jargon, I'm sorry.

I have a Domain name for my website. Can I use that somehow? And if so How? Please, if you can, give me step by step to do. Or point me to a place where I can find that.

Please, I don't know what a sticky is.
Am I wrong to think all I have to change is the router IP to something else in helpdesk.txt. Just give me an example of the syntax and Maybe I can get on with my testing.

Where is help on how to use my domain name for connecting with SC?

I've tried the helpdesk.txt with my external IP and with my web site name: www.xyz.com. They don't work.
then I rerun the zip and the creator tool, repost to the website and try and try and cry.

I've searched and all kinds of terms and items on the site and get more confused. Can someone point me to a step by tep help place for configuring this?

In the forum single click (SC)
The messages in on the top have the sticky icon it says STICKY right next to it.

I've read not with much understanding I'm afraid abou the particular problem I'm having. anyway thanks for the links.

I have made some progress.

I got a dnsdyn from http://www.dyndns.com/ and after fiddling with it put it in my netgear router in the Dynamic DNS section.

I changed the helpdesk.txt by replacing the 192.... with mynamesite.dyndns.org Do I need to preface it with www. or http://?

I rezipped, ran creator tool and replaced on my web site.

Now my friend gets a message that there's no dsm plugin.

What next?

well that is correct you only need to add the url www.spam.dyndns and setup in your router.

You have to manually add the dsm plugin and *.key to your customized sc

Be sure to rename the msrc4.dsm plugin.


Once that is done you need to make sure your viewer is using encyption as well..

Specifically, I went back through checked and tried again like this:

I set the shortcut VNC listen viewer target to: "C:\Program
Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe"
-listen 5500 -dsmplugin msrc4plugin.dsm

I opened the VND Viewer and checked the Use DSMPlugin box

In the Helpdesk.txt file I changed the 192… IP to -connect www.melpchelp.dnsalias.com –noregistry in two places

In the router I set the dynamic dns Host name to melpchelp.dnsalias.com
Does this need a www. in front of it?

In the Zip file I put MSRC4Plugin.dsm file and rc4.key file.

These files are located in C:\Program Files\UltraVNC

I Created the exe in the first box UltraVncSC based on RC23
Then tried the second box. Same errors.

When I try to connect I get “Plugin was unable to locate the key file…., I click ok, wait, nothing happens, finally right click to close the connection try.
Then on the other end the Error reading Protocal Version error message displays.

What now?

no www in front of it. just http:\\spam.dyndns.org


On the Single Click Creator page be sure to use the lower one..

There are two listed if you are using the newer plugins make sure that you use the lower creator ( on on the bottom)

Ok. I have put http:\\ on both lines of the helpdesk.txt and on the rounter dynamic settings.

Still get error. The pluginwas unable to locate the key file.

I had set the router to static IP I'll try changing that back to dynamic and see.

Any other ideas?

I meant to change TCP/IP back to :"obtain IP automatically " and
"obtain DNS server auto" I'll see what that does.

Which version of the SC are you using??

and are you 100% that you included the rc4.key file and that it is the same key file used in the viewer..

I had already config and gen another key just in case. Put it in C:/ProgramFiles/UltraVNC

Not sure exactly what you mean I went to a web site and downloaded a program. It was UltraVNC-102-Setup.exe from the web page https://uvnc.com/ I saw nothing that said SC

SC and Ultra VNC version 1.02 are really two different applications( the winvnc file is different).


Single Click has 3 versions. So I am wondering where you got your version from ( the helpdesk.txt, etc)

I am guessing it is version one or two by the sounds of it but I am curious??

How would I know there were SC versions?
I went to https://uvnc.com/ I saw nothing that said SC
where are these SC programs?
I downloaded UltraVNC-102-Setup.exe from that web page

I followed the instructions from http://sc.uvnc.com/index.php?section=19 as best I could and have been refining through emails

Be sure to use the bottom creator on that page if you ware using newer dsm plugins
