No VNC server selected

Post by melmaid »

I get this message "No VNC server selected" when I try to connect.
I'm just setting this up and have gotten this far:
Downloaded, installed Ultra VNC and opened the Viewer
Got my IP set to static
Found out what my external IP is
Port forwarded on my router. I can use any port not being used, can't I?

Downloaded custom.zip and only edited the IP at the beginning.
(Trying to do one thing at a time so it's easier to troubleshoot).
I tried with my internal and then my external ip address. I tried changing the port.

I use Zone Alarm firewall and have added and allowed UltraVNC to the program list.

I zipped the renamed custom file and went to the website to create the exe.

I emailed it to my laptop to test it.
When I opened it and double clicked on it I got the message
"No VNC server selected" Where and how do I select it?

Thanks for the quick reply
Used WinZip to zip up all the files after editing helpdesk.txt

Here's the change I made.
[HOST]
Internet support
[-connect 192.168.0.3:5500 -noregistry]
-connect 10.238.158.10:5500 -noregistry
This is a ficticious ip for security. I put my real one in here.

I tries both with the internal and then [] out and tried the internal.

that normal you won't have succes and have error no vnc selected

don't try to connect direct, you vncviewer waiting SC callback vnviewer listening !

require vncviewer -listen before SC lunched

(viewer side)
to your router, forward port 5500 to your internal IP of your vncviewer

Not getting in yet.

I have the viewer in listening.. When I double click on it in the sys tray a VNC viewer connection box opens. Do I need to do anything in that box? Like put in a special IP or check a box or boxes? If so, which ones? Then do I save these settings for use again?

On the machine that will be doing the viewing I have forwarded the port to 5500 on my router.

In the helptest.txt I did delete these lines:
[HOST]
Internet support encryption
-plugin -connect 192.168.1.102:5500 –noregistry

Then when I zipped the files I omitted rc4.key file.

Still get the “No VNC server selected.

Now I am testing this by sending an email from my desktop to my laptop. The laptop is wireless to the same router as the desktop. Does that make a difference?

when viewer is running as listen mode,
do not click over vnc viewer systray, you just need SC is lunched and then you are connected togueter

server initate the connection to viewer, then viewer take control of SC !
like phone callback

I don't understand. I open the exe file on my laptop. The Ultra VNC SC window appears. I double click on it and I get the error message
"No VNC server is selected". What do I do?

The viewer is in the systray of my desktop.

Please, someone, help me out here.

I still get an error when I try to connect “No Vnc server selected”.
Where was I supposed to set this up to begin with?
I think I have a Static IP. I called my ISP, earthlink and they gave me DNS Server addresses for preferred and alternate. Since I am using 192.168.0.1 and .2 for other things I set the static for .3. Is that somehow a problem? My earlier posts have all the things I could think of to try. What am I missing here? I even turned off zone alarm long enough to see if that was interfering, even though I didn’t think it was. It made no difference.

Can anyone else offer any instruction?

Can anyone tell me what the VNC server should be? The way I understand that SC works is that the machine I have the exe file on and double click on is the server. I see nothing in the helpdesk.txt file that indicates a server so it must be something that's done as the zip file is submitted in the convert box where I sign in as foo. I just can't get this thing to work.....yet.

Been searching in the forums for several days. Can't find anything. I've also serached for server and found nothing.

It's very distressing and problematical for me.

Seems like many others can make it work easily.

Any ideas, anybody?

Finally, I got it.

The trick is to click somewhere on the words "Internet support", not in the blank space of the Ultra VNC SC window.

DUH. Enough for tonight. I'll work on the encrytption part tomorrow.

Then maybe, I'll design a better interface box.

Sure am glad this service is available and that I perservered to get it working.

Thanks to the creators.
