SC with proxies

Post by hretif »

Hi,
I am a very happy user of SC and it helps me nearly every day. I have also configured NAT routers to be able to give support with viewers being behind a Firewall and finally using port 443 so that servers can be also behind Firewalls. That's about all my experiences.

Now, I am confronted to a new challenge: shortly I wanted to give support to someone sitting inside a medium sized company. Although port 443 was used, no chance for the server to get contact to the viewer. Asking an IT responsible, he says: yes it is probably because we are using proxies.

I must admit, I am (still) not an expert concerning this domain. Is it possible that someone explain me what it does exactly mean concerning SC? Why does it not work?

If I want to go a step further and give support to a wider range of people, which is the best path to follow: repeaters, SCIII, PChelpWare, etc…?

Thanks for your answers,
hubert

Hi,

in between I have got some more knowledges and I think that PCHelpware should be a good path.

Testing it, I have noticed that the Server Connect Button does not always appear. Is it due to the availibility of uvnc.com?

Some experienced user have used SCIII trough proxy.
the 3 pre-requesite:

1. customer need connected to Internet trough the proxy office before lunch SCIII
2. do not have any software use port 443 (you have already solved this point)
3. RobH there tell some proxy office failed with SC, and there used EchoWinVNC + echoware vncviewer for solve the issue, maybe PCHelpWare could help ? Not experienced.

I can't help for the proxy.
Maybe experienced users/dev of proxy can answer here.

Yes, good idea tro try PCHelpWare with and without proxy.
