Performance issue Windows SBS 2003

Post by samdu »

I've been using VNC and uVNC for years now but have run in to an issue on one server. I'm running the latest release version on both the server and the client. The server is a dual processor (Xeon) machine running SBS 2003. T-1 on the server side.

The problem is performance. The login comes up quickly, but as soon as I get to a desktop, the VNC service takes up fully 100% of the processor cycles on one of the processors and slows the session to a crawl. I've got another client with a dual processor Xeon machine running Windows Server 2003 over DSL and haven't had this issue at all. In fact, that machine runs sessions about as close to real time as I've seen. Both machines are configured similarly as far as uVNC is concerned.

Any ideas why uVNC might be hogging an entire processor on the SBS machine? (Video hook driver is installed and running on both machines, too, btw).

Thanks,
Sam

I'm pretty sure. Both are Dell machines.
