what is the difference between "listen" mode and the regular mode?

you dont get to interact with the machine... just listen and watch.

"regular" mode: the viewer (client) connects to the server

"listen" mode (viewer in listen mode): the server connects (add a client) to the viewer(client)

so, listen mode is the reverse, but the viewer still has control, right?

The difference is the connection initiation...

Normal.
Viewer--->connect to -->server
This works
Viewer-->Firewall/Natrouter-->internet-->server

Listen mode/Invers
Server-->connect to-->viewer
Server-->Firewall/Natrouter-->internet-->viewer

Listen mode is usefull when the server is blocked by a Firewall or router.

After the connection between server/viewer is made, both versions act identcal.
