Works on AdHoc, but not Within LAN

Post by Elaguila »

Hello all.

This is my problem:
I am able to use VNC on an AdHoc network, but I suppose that is the easiest way to set it up.

I ran the server on the computer that was hosting the AdHoc, so I simply connected to it from my laptop.

Now, since AdHoc sucks, I got a Linksys router. And I am now using three computers.

The computer that I want to use as a server is slower than the other two, but it has 1.2TB diskspace, so I sort of use it as a storage.

I want to be able to connect to it from my laptop and my third PC, and all the computers are on the wireless.

Additionally, they do all have static IP addresses (VNC server has 192.168.1.4, laptop has .3, and third PC has .5).

I have tried to connect to it, but it doesn't work. Also, I don't want to have to manually set it to some temporary "listen mode" each time I wish to connect to it; I want it to be connectable at all times.

I read about that Repeater add-on, but it seems to be aimed towards users who are connecting from the outside of a LAN and wish to connect to a VNC server within a LAN.

I have read all the guides I could find, but none of them seem to be helpful.

I'm sure it's simple, and I'm thankful for any help I may receive!

I admit you have firewall on your Linksys router,
and allow, enable bridge WLAN connection otherwise there cannot communicate between laptop to laptop trough router except just web browsing (security feature)

try disable firewall on all of your laptops.
