Sound in Viewer?

Sound in Viewer?
I've set up UltraVNC on my home computer, which connects to the internet via a router. I set up the router to forward ports 5800 and 5900 to the computer with the UltraVNC server on it, yada yada yada. My only problem is that I cannot hear sound on the computer running the Viewer. I'm positive the sound works on the computer, it simply will not transmit the sound. Any ideas?

if you don't have Microsoft Remote Desktop client (mstsc.exe)

I registered right now to the forum since i'm interested in sound on UtraVNC.
For LAN connections, it could be a great thing to stream also the sound from the host machine. UltraVNC programmers, do you like this idea ?
tnx
Re: Sound in Viewer?
To the best of my knowledge All flavors of VNC do not currently transmit sound over the Remote Desktop Session. If you have any skills in programming maybe you could contribute to the project by adding sound to UltraVNC.

in fact, i posted here since I didnt find the authors contact... I would like to propose this feature as a suggestion.
Re: Sound in Viewer?
I too would like to see this feature.
Currently I use MS-RDP Protocol if I need sound in a remote desktop session. And since you can change the TCP Port that the RDP Protocol uses I sometimes pick port 5900

Hmmm are you saying that you use VNC and the Microsoft thing at same time ?MrChris wrote:Currently I use MS-RDP Protocol if I need sound in a remote desktop session. And since you can change the TCP Port that the RDP Protocol uses I sometimes pick port 5900

I would just like to get all from UltraVNC. If UltraVNC has the option for supporting LAN connections (that is, using substantial bandwidth) with a bit more of bandwidth it could stream sound.
If the UltraVNC "hooks" to the video display, I think hooking to the audio device would be feasible without much trouble ...
(any UltraVNC programmer reading this ? )
Re: Sound in Viewer?
Yes that is correct. Sometimes simultaneously, Since they both use different TCP Ports it is not an issue. I use this both in a LAN and WAN environment. Just setup port forwarding of both 3389 for RDP and 5900 for VNC to point to the internal lan machine I need to get to.ptek wrote:Hmmm are you saying that you use VNC and the Microsoft thing at same time ?

Re: Sound in Viewer?
+1 Maybe even as a two-directional plugin to allow varios forwarding schemes - from sound capture on client side to play on server device to bi-directional voice chat.
Re: Sound in Viewer?
Sound with VNC - yes yes yes pleaaaaase!!!
An all-directional switchable conference system - teacher to all, teacher to one, one to teacher, one and teacher to all, all to all....
I bet the pupils will listen to each and every word if my voice comes through the headphone too. This feature's got big hit potential
