How to manually specify password in registry?

Post by hstraf »

I have a deployment of several UltraVNC-enabled workstations. We are trying to manually set the password in the registry for each workstation, but I don't understand how to do this.

The current value is this:
"Password"=hex:cd,95,69,74,86,cd,ad,ae
How can I change this to something else? Is there a special converter?

I tried updating the password on one of the installs using the preference edit area, but the registry value didn't change...

Set password on a reference server..
export registry key
import registry key

That way you can use vnc to create your passwd reg key.

vncpwd

To change password on remote computers, I use the vncpwd utility. It's very easy to use and works great in scripts. All you have to do is reset the password using vncpwd, then restart the service (I use psservice). :wink:

I cannot change the password on the server. Tried the vncpwd utility, but defaults back to the registry password...and I don't know what that is!!

PS Default Settings will not allow me to change the password.
