Strange connection problem.

Post by Livers »

Up until 2 weeks ago, I had RC18 working fine through a firewall, for remote admin of three servers. In the firewall, I forward ports 5901,5902,5903 to each of the respective servers, all in default configuration except for MSLogon configured, and the firewall itself set for Loopback Connections. The firewall (5901) and the server (5902) operate perfectly. Server 2 (5903) has failed and is giving me the "Connection failed - Error reading Protocol Version" dialog. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, rechecked configuration settings and compared to the working boxes and nothing obvious shows. I have torn down the firewall rules and rebuilt and the same symptoms remain, so I figure the problem is local to the server itself. Any ideas how to proceed? TIA.

UPDATE: All OS Win2k SP4 Server/Pro

Changed firewall port maps to 5910,5920, etc. was no help, still had the one server connection problem. Went to the server, and ran the "Reinstall WinVNC Service (Silent)'" one last time - success. :D
