Video Hook Driver NOT active after 1.0.2 update

Post by andrewk8 »

I was running 1.0.1 with the Video Hook Driver. Everything was working correctly, including the Video Hook Driver.

I installed 1.0.2 and the driver test said:

The driver is present
The communication service is present
The driver is NOT active

I manually removed the Video Hook driver per the info on the web site ( http://www.uvnc.com/features/driver.html), rebooted, and re-installed it. "The driver is NOT active".

I completely uninstalled UltraVNC 1.0.2, rebooted, and re-installed it. "The driver is NOT active".

I then uninstalled 1.0.2, rebooted, and reinstalled 1.0.1. "The driver is NOT active".

Also, in both versions, I tried removing the video hook driver rebooting, and manually re-installing it through the stand-alone installer (UltraVncDriverSetup.exe). "The driver is NOT active".

Nothing I do activates the Video Hook Driver.

Argggggggggh!

There are other posts, but none with this same issue. (e.g. [topic=3100][/topic])

I seem to be having the same/similar problem.
Uninstalled UltraVNC.
Uninstalled Video Hook Driver
Removed the vnc drivers from windows\system32
and windows\system32\drivers
rebooted
reinstalled ultraVNC 1.0.2

Driver Test results:
c:\windows\system32\vncdrv.dll Version: 1.00.19
c:\windows\system32\vnccom.sys Version: 1.00.17
c:\windows\system32\vncdrv.sys Version: 1.00.17

The driver is NOT present
The communication service is NOT present
The driver is NOT active

Is there a resolution to this
Thanks.

I Am also having this problem,I was able to get it to work for a short time yesterday by uninstalling the driver, rebooting, and installing it again + reoot fixed it.But when i went to connect again today(No reboot since the last install), the driver would not activate.

Specs:
768 Mb Ram
2.5 GHZ proc
80gb hd

Encryption:
MS RC4 NoReg PLugin-v1.2.0.0
Driver Test results:
c:\windows\system32\vncdrv.dll Version: 1.00.19
c:\windows\system32\vnccom.sys Version: 1.00.17
c:\windows\system32\vncdrv.sys Version: 1.00.17

The driver is present
The communication service is present
The driver is NOT active

I had no problem using the mirror driver with 1.0.1

I could be wrong but I think the mirror driver is only active when a viewer is connected..;) I think other users have had issues with the new version of uvnc 1.0.2..

Since I made my original post, I've checked a couple of times and found that:
  • "The driver is NOT active" when there is no UltraVNC client connected.
"The driver is active" when an UltraVNC client is connected.
Makes sense, but I think the behavior is different between 1.0.2 and 1.0.1, so I was a little confused.
