No, sorry.

UVNC as well as any other remote control package does not offer sound redirection. For that to work on Windows you would need a virtual sound card driver to catch the sound output.

But Rudi seems to be clever at programming device drivers  , perhaps it would be no problem for him to program a dummy sound card driver and insert the sound data into the rfb stream for the vncviewer to play.

Citrix can do it (very expensive), I have "done it" too by combining two products :

Virtual Audio Cable (grabs audio output and forwards it to audio input on the SAME PC (vncserver)

One of the free audio conferencing programs (can't remember the name right now  ) who reads the forwarded audio on the VNCserver and sends it to the pc running VNCviewer and conferencing listener.

A mess to setup, but it worked ok.
Not really worth the effort, IMO.

The feature to "talk" to the client with a microphone in NetSupport Manager always sounded funny to me. :-o

On the other hand UVNC has the chance to be the first of all the VNCs to support sound!

Sound require an extra udp port...

Beta 2 will support voip, using an already existing module,
we only need to add a user interface to vnc :)

Where does "beta 2" fit in with existing versions? Is it after version 1 gets released?

Roadmap

Post by lenisham »

Is there a roadmap? I'd like to know if the repeater will be enhanced, etc.

Hi Rudi,

would "beta 2" support

forwarding of server audio _output_ to viewer _output_

or would it forward server/viewer _input_ to viewer/server _output_ like IP-telephone?

I'm not gonna write the sound module myself, but using an existing
voip module, (internet phone module).

Phone is 2 way.

Thanks for the reply,

which I interpret as a "no" to sound output forwarding,
but a "yes" to voice chat.

Long time no change... where I can find something about voice integration.
I fact i'm looking for a way of integrating a chat/voip application with vnc.

In fact any kind of plugin for a chat application would do the job. I'm looking for the ability to connect to the remote user when you are in a chat session (text or voice).

Even if I preffer open-source software I'm would use skype if there is a way of integrating it with vnc.
