Have been using 443 then just stopped working.
I started using port 443 in the viewer on my work computer to access my home computer because 5900 and whatever wasn't working. It must have been blocked or something. Now all of a sudden 443 isn't working at work on the standalone viewer that I have on my USB drive. Is there a way for me to find out which ports I could use at work or is randomely entering ports then going to work and testing it the only way? Is there a little program I can run to see which ports are open/unblocked at work?

Well.. I would restart the server and try it at another location besides work to see if the problem is at home or at work. It is possible tha they blocked access at your work router..

They blocked access completely? Originally when I tried it at work on port 5900 it didn't work but did work from my gf's house. I then fished around and changed it to 443 and it worked for like a week. Could this just be that that port isn't working now for whatever reason?

yes, possible your enterprise IT staff close unautorized port until you give good reason to use it for business usage with your customers.

So if that is the case... there is no way I can use UltraVNC?
I can successfully use Logmein. I can't use the ports that uses?

well your IT staff may actually block anything you try to use. It is there right to keep the network secure as possible

Re: Have been using 443 then just stopped working.
Well... I set my Windows Firewall to allow port 443 and configure my router to allow that. I also set it in the UltraVNC server... and it started working. Now about 30 mins later... it allows me to put in my login but then everything just disappears. If I try again to login it'll either disappear or give me a message "Your connection has been rejected."

Re: Have been using 443 then just stopped working.
other reason.
someone was connected with remote desktop connection (MSTSC) from any OS to an XP OS and then finished closed session that was locked access to vnc server. (not anyway on same port)
I was trying vnc viewer to connect to vnc server, I was not able to reconnect over until reboot remote computer (computer hosting vnc server)

I'm sorry I am not sure what you mean. I still get the same thing happening today (next day). So does that mean 443 won't work anymore? Can I use that PC Flank to find a port that is open on my work computer?

Re: Have been using 443 then just stopped working.
How is it not working anymore? It isn't telling me it can't connect. After I enter my login password it goes blank.
Re: Have been using 443 then just stopped working.
where are you trying this from??? Your office could have blocked it and there is nothing you can do about it unless you talk to the IT staff. If you are trying this from a friends house etc and it is not working then maybe your dynamic dns host isnt updating..

you have someone connected or disconnected recently to your remote computer (FAST USER SWITCH) or yourself,Bwangster12 wrote:After I enter my login password it goes blank.
after usage of Microsoft Remote Desktop connection,
you are not able to connect 2nd time on same remote computer.
This the reason you have the black screen
solution for XP Professional
Control Panel ... System
Tab Remote
--Remote Desktop--
uncheck box "allow remote users to connect remotely to this computer"
apply OK and restart windows.
