unable to connect via http/java

Post by blueOrange »

hi folks,

wow this is really an amazing program, VNC is amazing and I am seeing better performace over realVNC.

anyway, i am able to connect to my vnc server, both from inside the network and outside it. I also have the DSM NOREG Plug-in installed and working.

However I am not able to connect to my server from a java enabled browser.
I should be using all recent versions as I just downloaded direct.

I get a messaage on the client side saying: "Error Host 192.168.0.3 port 5901 is not an RFB server".

I believe I have all the neccisary ports being forwarded to my server via my router. I also have "Enable JavaViwer" check in the server properties.

I am using port 5901 with display N1.
I have tried various options here with diferent ports etc and have not been able to get it to work.

FYI: I know I have extra ports here, but just to try and cover all my bases I currently have all these ports being forwarded to my srever mechene:

5900 - 5901
5800 - 5802
5500 - 5501

Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Ah, thank you for the elegent solution!
Not quite what I expected, but at least it was elegant!
Thank you.

Yup that did the trick!
Does that mean that my server cant be set up to be able to connect to either my laptop ussing the secure pluggin OR via http ?
Does it also mean that the connection via http isnt secure ?
I was hoping to have it set up so I could securly access from my laptop and just use the http in a pinch if I need access and cant use the laptop for some reason. Was hoping for both but if its one or the other Im going with secuirty on the laptop.

Thanks again.
