I have successfully set up the UVNC server on my desktop PC (XP SP2), and I use the UVNC viewer on my laptop, and the RealVNC beta viewer on my pocket PC. Everything seems to work fairly well, EXCEPT I notice the cursor on the server PC jitters and shakes quite a bit. I am wondering if the shaking is normal, and whether the mysterious UVNC Driver would improve the server performance on my desktop system?
I see references everywhere to:
- UltraVNC Video Driver Setup
- UltraVNC Video Driver Silent Setup
- UltraVNC Mirror Driver
Please explain the differences among these three?
Do I need to install any of them on the server machine? Why?
I have perused the FAQ and the online docs to no avail on this question...

The Mirror Video Driver is a driver that UltraVNC (for instance) can use to be quickly and efficiently notified with screen changes. Using it on an UltraVNC server results in a excellent accuracy. The video driver also makes a direct link between the video driver frammebuffer memory and UltraWinVNC server. Using the framebuffer directly eliminates the use of the CPU for intensive screen blitting, resulting in a big speed boost and very low CPU load.jschall wrote:Do I need to install any of them on the server machine? Thank you for your patience, Redge! I was just confused by the multiple names, then
I installed the "UltraVNC Video Driver Setup" alias, and it cured the "jitters" on the server desktop.
So, if I understand correctly, the UVNC driver is taking a load off the NVidia driver, and is handling the requests from the UVNC client(s), so the cursor on the server desktop can relax, only responding to local KVM events.
Thanks, again!

Use of mirror driver with SC
I plan to use SC to support one single PC user (client) that is using a 56K dialup modem. I was not planning to install UltraNVC (server or listener) on the client PC so that the client' PC does not have anything added to the PC that is not needed. I am using a cable modem on my end.
My questions are:
1) Can the mirror driver be installed on the client PC to improve performance of SC without the installation of the UltraVNC package? That is, will SC use the mirror driver automatically without the user (client) configuring anything and if UltraNVC is not installed on the client PC?
2) Can I install the mirror driver remotely onto the client PC via the initial SC connection (using SC without the driver installed) so that the user (client) does not have to be involved in installing this driver?
3) If the answeres to 1) and 2) are YES, then which driver install link should I use in the above described scenario.
Thanks for any answers

1) Yes, you can but is better to not install something unecessary just for fews time to remote support. (is what I do with all my users (nothing installed except the SC on their desktop their can call me and click over.
2) No, because SingleClick is already running
3) N/A
