Ultra VNC crashes client machine upon connection

Post by mahjohn »

Ok..so I have Ultra VNC pushed out to abour 400 PC's. While I can connect to many without issue, I have noticed two machines that when I attempt to connect to I get Password Accepted....then nothing...box just hangs there.
Upon further investigation, I started a continuous ping to the machine.....then once I put in the password and got the "accepted" message, I lose the ping. Anyway it was after a few times that the user called and said his machine kept rebooting on him. I looked in event viewer, but no logs are generated. This is happening to two machines that I know of...one a desktop, the other a laptop. any ideas ?

ok...its installed as a service on all machines. I think i've narrowed it down a bit, as I have two hp 6120's with the same issue, and they both have integrate ATI cards....

1. try winsockfix
2. up to date/fix network driver on 2 faulty computers ?
3. unknown software not installed over all others 398 computers ?

ok...so fixed it...well sorta. The Intel's have a similar desktop manager to the ATI's....I un-installed and rebooted the laptop, and can connect now.
