Cannot click on system tray icon on remote PC

Post by nowthenvnc »

I am trying to set up a PC so that users can connect to it from home using UltraVNC (1-0-1). That's not a problem but there is a very strange difficulty. There is a piece of software installed, called Adviser Office Taskbar. When you launch it, it places an icon in the system tray. When you click on it (once with the left mouse button) a menu pops up. There are options only available through this pop-up menu. This works fine when you are using the PC locally. When you connect to the PC using VNC remotely, you click on the icon and nothing pops up. I do wait long enough to be sure that nothing has happened. If you keep trying (waiting each time) it eventually works but it may take about 10 attempts.

I have tried altering the VNC viewer options so that “Emulate 3 Buttons (with 2-button click)” is unticked. When I untick it, I see a great improvement. The menu will pop up every 1 in 3 attempts on average. That is OK for me but it really needs to work properly for the various different users.

Can anyone help diagnose this problem?#

Thank you
