Half Way There, can you help me the other Half Please

Post by switchy »

Hiya there guys.

I support my families pc's, I am no genius but I know windows quite well and I understand peoples lazyness at keeping their computer safe so I go around periodically sorted out thier issues, sometimes I get a cup of tea, others I get 20p to by an icecream and others I get enough for a pint, but all in all I like doing it.

Now I have used the following link and made it work with my mothers computer,

Tried this and it worked!!! but not what I was looking for.
[topic=3587][/topic]

but, this was not really the soloution I was looking for, I wanted that holy grail "download and click" and suddenly their computer is at my finger tips soloution. Now, I carried on and I downloaded UltraVNC and I ran the viewer as a listening service. I then went about making my own single click exe. I did the following:

-connect 192.168.1.14:5500 -noregistry

to the helpdesk.txt and changed nothing else. I forwarded the ports 5900/5800 & 5500 on my router to 192.168.1.14 and then I compiled the sc.exe I sent to another computer on my network and it worked (it didnt work first time I did have a number of goes at it :).

OK, so far so good, I know the thing works on my local network, and in a fashion I also know it works via the internet in the form off SCIII_test5.exe & the vncviewer_ssl.exe thorugh 2 router firewalls, one being linksys and the other being netgear and the client computer was a wireless laptop.

Ok, I went to http://www.ipchicken.com/ and I found my ip, I then swapped

-connect 192.168.1.14:5500 -noregistry

for

-connect my.internet.ip:5500 -noregistry

(my.internet.ip = the number that ipchicken gave me) I compiled my sc.exe and sent it to my mother, but this did not work at all. I have really gone through every page on this forum trying to find an answer, and because I have spent so long I hoped some of what I wrote might help others, but does anyone out there know why mine is not working? Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and my family.

My sister now lives quite a way from me and I don't really often get to see her, and she has more issues with PC's than all of my family put together!!!

Like I said any help at all, if ya want me to get on msn I can do that, I will even help you test new ideas if you want but I would love to have a soloution to this.

If I can find a soloution to make this work I will put time in to making a video tutorial to set up the same way I have and also to use the SCIII + SSL VNC Viewer.

thanks for your time.
