I can't see what the VNC server user is doing with the mouse

Post by nowthenvnc »

When I connect using UltraVNC viewer to someone's PC to give them support, they often want to point to things on the screen with the mouse. I can't see that. I can only see movements initiated by me.

In the viewer options you have three choices. I use the default, which is "Track remote cursor locally." That sounds like the right choice to me. Is it?
Is there a setting that I don't know about?

Thanks

should work with the new 1.0.2 version.
This contains the PointerPos pseudo-encoding.

you have to check "let remote server deal with mouse cursor".

it will decrease performance a little bit, but it works well

Thank you very much. I'll give that setting a try.

BTW I wasn't aware that 1.0.2 existed. Is it a stable version? Also, with regard to seeing the mouse movements, does any of this depend upon what version of VNC is installed at the server end?

Thanks

For PointerPos to work, you need 1.0.2 on both sides.
PointerPos works for "Track remote cursor locally".
So you have the cursor very responsive and you can see server initiated moves.
