Toggle Remote Input/Monitor // template instead of blank scr

Post by BlackBlade »

Hello to all from Germany,

when i connect to the server and toggle the remote input and monitor i got a blank screen on the remote. This ist still correct, but sometimes it happens that a user try to use the pc and if there ist no action on the screen he shut down the pc because he think it hang up.

To solve this problem it would be great if i could show a template with "Administration in progress...don't use Computer" or something else instead of a blank screen. Is it possible?

Sorry for my english...i should train it again ;-)

Hidden feature....

+Use alpha blending screen blanking (needed to work in layers)
+Put a background.bmp file in the ultravnc directory.
+The black screen is replaced by this bmp

You can put in the bmp what you want :)

Thx for this information...it really seems to be a hidden feature...there is no doc found about this feature

So i tried to use it, but it doesn't work...i checked the box for "Enable Alpha-Blending" and also tried with "Capture Alpha Blending"
The background.bmp ist in the folder c:\programs\ultravnc\

Maybe i forgot something...can you explain the part "needed to work in layers" please? There could be a fault by myself.

alpha blending is not supported on all OS's.
(at OS level it's called layered windows (semi transparent))
If Alpha blending screen blanking is anabled, the user can see the mouse move ontop of the black screen.
This way you can easy verify if the alpha blending is working.

Are you running as application or service, it could be that the default path
for service is system32 and not your installation directory.
background.bmp -->copy in system32

Hello Rudi,

this was the missing part...i'am running UltraVNC as a service. Now i copied the background.bmp in system32 and everything works just fine :-)

And now we have another happy user of UltraVNC ;-)

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I was searching the forum and found [topic=2808][/topic] so i tried to disable the video hook driver and it worked.... But now we have to disable the video hook driver which gives us improved performance. Will this be fixed in the newer version of the VideoDriver ???.

Kind regards,

Onno
