Login name a password to establish the connection on a Proxy

Post by Galileo »

SCIII determines the name of the user who is logged on to windows , asks for an internet password and tries to make an internet connection with this windows-username and password. But my internet username is different, there are any parameters to set ?

Not exactly sure what you are asking SCIII is in beta form and we dont have alot of flexiblity yet. It uses port 443 and an SSL Layer. and has to have the *.pem file with it to work. SCIII can not be routed to another port at this time it only works when the port is forwarded to the LAN Only.

Quote from a Developer Rudi on the port settings:
loopback ports used
server
59000
99911
viewer
59001
99912

outgoing
443 or http proxy (8080)

repeater
loopback ports
5901 5500 (settings)
listen
443

The repeater need to have 443 direct connected to the internel (or Nat forwarded)
Server and viewer use 443 or proxy port (outgoing)

No checking for open ports --> terminate application
NO pem key repeater --> terminate repeater

-id XXXX -sslproxy -connect repeater_ip:443 -noregistry
ONLY THIS SYNTAX works

NO pem KEY (repeater) OR PORTS IN USE --> CRASH

Galileo and Dodo,

SCIII actually only use proxy of Internet Options settings even you not use Internet explorer.
and not proven test with some other proxy, why ?
Because there not enough beta testers from others proxy.
there to much users want working software without give any time help for fix and give some details about their network and proxy settings.
so, Squid is one proxy is, ACTUALLY, not working as my knowledge.

Thank you for your reply redge,

I can become your tester if you want but only i d'ont have the control on the network devices.
- everybody in my company use IE6 with a http proxy authentification on port 8080 to go out to internet
- the proxy user logon is different the win xp user logon...

so when the sciii server start after ID:xxxxx a only password box appear to enter the pass with already win xp user.

Can you tell me what is wrong ?
Why i can not enter the proxy user logon?

SCIII is the best product that i have tested.

easy solution:
update the content of your SCIII.ZIP with adding the recent winvnc.exe and test it before recompile
[topic=5185][/topic]
tips and trick valid for SCIII too

then use ultravnc.com sc creator 1.0.0 (not SC20.3)

http://sc.uvnc.com/index.php?section=19

then if nothing change, follow next solution ?

I'm not a developer at all, but I think you can add to your SCIII the option -username -password

example:
[HOST]
Internet support
-connect 192.168.1.102:5500 -noregistry -username -password

and retest again.

I don't have proxy, so I can't verify is work or not.
maybe or not, this option would force to ask user to enter their proxy username and password (not windows logon)
or maybe an option need to be added to SC code an option like -proxyauthentication 1

Redge,

I'd tested SCIII again with everything you advice me but nothing change...
It's seem that SCIII d'ont care about -username and -password parameters.

Can you tell me more.

did you check your internet options properties about any error settings forcing to authenticate other option than windows logon ?
active directory ; domain or workgroup usage ?
any policy blocking something somewhere ?

or just maybe only limit feature of this actual SCIII can't be solved until next fix/update !

nothing more... sorry

Hi fellas,

tested the SCIII with -name and -pasword: it's not used for proxy-auth.

Me thinks it would be really nice and a huge enhancement to not use the logged on user for proxy-auth but have the possibility to key in both a proxy-user and the password. I'm in a situation where I get some basic and enhanced user accounts for the proxy and am not able to use them as local (PC) logins.

We have the same problem that the proxy user differs from the logged on user.

Is it possible to get the sourcecode for the SSL-WinVnc-Server so we can change the proxy user ?

After a quick look at the code - thanks Rudi - the solution is really easy:

You can specify username@proxyserver in your IE connection-settings instead of only setting the proxyserver.
This is the version I have tested.

Alternatively you can set an environmentvariable withe name HTTP_PROXY_USER which contains - surprise - the username.
