I have two PC's on the same lan and can VNC from A to B with no problem, however when I try the reverse (B >> A), the following occurs on the client (B) PC:
1) VNC Authentication dialog displayed.
2) I enter correct password and click "Log On"
3) The VNC Viewer Status dialog shows "Password accepted"
4) The primatry VCN windows opens
5) Within 1 second the primary VNC window closes
On the target/server PC (A):
1) The wall paper is removed
2) The screen flashes
3) In spite of the connection failing, the wall paper is not restored.
Thats it!
What am I doing wrong? I have compared all settings on both A & B and they are the same etc.
Thanks.

Did you happen to upgrade the pc from an older verison of Ultra VNC that is having the problem? There has been issues when upgrading a pc that had a older verision of UltraVNC installed.

I have had a very similar problem. I had a Win 98 machine running UltraVNC server RC18 or some other RC version. I also have a Win XP Pro machine with 1.01 viewer which works fine with Win XP UltraVNC servers of several vintages, some updated from earlier versions to 1.0.1.
When I updated the Win 98 to server 1.0.1, I started having systematic immediate disconnects.
I have recently been trying to connect a remote Win98 machine running UltraVNC SingleClick 1.0.1 (server) to connect to the same 1.0.1 viewer in listening mode; the connection breaks after a few seconds. The machine has had some installation of UltraVNC in the past.
The common factor is Win 98 server; but with only two cases to work from I don't know if it is significant. Does anybody else have information?
Best wishes, pol098
