Help needed in getting the Java viewer to work

Post by kirkzeus »

Hi all

I have sucessfully got UltraVNC (v1.0.1) to work using the viewer supplied, but when I try to access the VNC server using my web browser I can't access the server.

My client is a Windows 98SE pc running Internet Explorer v5.5 with Java installed (I have previously tried another VNC software called TightVNC and using their server I was able to connect using my web browser - TightVNC has now been uninstalled). The server is a Windows XP SP2 pc. The client and server are connected via a LAN.

The ip address of the server is 192.168.0.1. I put into the web browser the address htttp://192.168.0.1:5800/ I then get displayed in the top left hand corner of the browser's window a small square and then after about 60 seconds all I get is a blank window displayed - i.e. it failed to connect to the server - no error mesage though.

Any ideas appreciated as I'm determined to use UltraVNC as my VNC server/viewer of choice.

Many thanks

Are you sure java is properly installed ?
Have you tried with another browser ?

Is Httpconnect selected in the Admin properties on the server ?

Thanks for the information.

I reinstalled Java and it works now. I'm a little confused though on why it previously worked fine with TightVNC but not with UltraVNC.

Thanks again.
