Force ZIP file at transfer

Post by mtz_ro_2003 »

Hi.

Pretty often I transfer large text files... Some above 10 MB...
Is there any way to force File Transfer to compress the file before transfering it?
A 10MB text file can be zipped to about 300 KB...
Of course, I can compress the file myself and unpack it after the trasfer, but it would be great if UVNC will compress/decompress it itself

Thanks

I'm using the UltraVNC 1.0.1 latest version... on both server and client side.

I'm quite sure UltraVNC does this already.

10 MB are sent much, much slower than a 300 KB file.
If I transfer the file uncompressed it takes, let's say 3 minutes. But if I compress the file and transfer just the compressed one it takes only 30 seconds...

Are you 100% sure that File Transfer compresses even a single file? I know that, whem you transfer a folder, it compresses the contents of the folder and transfer a single file... but what I'm asking is about one] file....

I am fairly sure that it zips single files as well. I am not sure about text files . I am hoping that Rudi or Sam can offer an assist on that question..:)
