Program Icon

In order for this software to be acceptable in corporate and business environment, the icon should be changed.

The problem is that the EYE sends the wrong message in a completely misleading way, and creates needless worries and explaination, and even out-right rejection (by users or management).

All of us technically savvy already knew that IT already has full access to the end-users' system no matter what, remote or not. The paranoid end-users tend to dislike that fact that something is being install on their system to watch them. They feel a privacy violation.

It is completely unwise to stress the "watch" aspect, as opposed to the support and assistance aspects. A netural icon such as pcAnywhere's computer screen would be much more appropriate.

Yes, I already know, UVNC (just like radmin and pcAnywhere, etc.) has a way of running in hidden mode without icon. That too is inappropriate in principles for most situations. It sends the wrong message.

Hello
With UltraVNC v1.01 it is possible !
you can change icon, restricted acces to modification or hide the icon !

-To change icon, choise 2 icons .ico and put it then in the same directory of winvnc.exe with the names : icon1.ico and icon2.ico, they will be used as sytray icon.

-for restricted right, use the register Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]
"AllowShutdown"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]
"AllowProperties"=dword:00000001

-For "no icon" in sytray bar:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3]
"DisableTrayIcon"=dword:00000001

good luck :crazy:
