error reading protocol version

Post by elise »

Hello :-D

Having problems with Single click.

Set static ip on my computer.

Port forwarding enabled on router for 5500

Determined my external address from whatsmyip, and entered this in the txt file to create the exe from

however when I have an external computer trying to connect I get the error reading protocol.
It works o.k within the network using my internal static ip address connecting from another workstation.

Problem is on the router or the entry in the text file for the address?

Question It mentions that I need to enter a dynmic dns address in the text.

Would this be the ip address that I get from whatsmyip?

You do have to port forward your port 5500 to the static IP that you assigned to it
    Example
    WAN (external port 5500)>>>router>>>internal port 5500 (192.168.0.1)

Yes the ip you get from whatsmyip is what goes into your helpdesk.txt

If the external (WAN) IP is not static then you may wish to setup a dynamic dns.
