When I connect to the UltraVNC server in view only mode it locks the workstation immediately. When they log back into the computer (WinXP ... all patches applied) it closes the VNC session. Very odd.
Here is my setup.
I've installed the server and poked necessary holes through the firewall. I'm using this for support on my non computer literate inlaws. In view only mode so I can walk them through problems that they should be able to solve while I watch and in read/write mode so I can "drive" so to speak.

What are the admin properties of your inlaws server??
A few things that you should mentioned Fast user switching not supported
[topic=3050][/topic]
Configuration of Winvnc
Source http://doc.uvnc.com/install/configuration.html
I would try only classic authenication to see if that helps. I would imagine that your inlaws pc do not have a domain and are using this for personal use and if the Operating System is Windows XP home I would only use classic period.. Once you get that working then I would use the msrc noreg.dsm encryption to further increase your security..
