VNC connects over VPN to one PC but not another

Post by raygr »

We have two offices, the main office and the site office. The site office connects to the main office via VPN. A PC in the site office can VNC to one PC (10.10.0.7) in the main office but fails to connect to another PC (10.10.0.6) in the main office.

The .vnc files for both connections are identical except for the IP address. The VNC server on both PCs in the main office has been set up identically as far as I can tell. Both use the same VNC password and encryption key, and both have the Administrator logged on, as does the PC in the site office.

Using the same .vnc files on my PC in the main office I can connect to both PCs without any problem.

Both offices are on different subnets, and the firewalls are configured to allow all VNC connections through the VPN. All PCs in both offices are running W2K and are using uVNC v1.0.1.

I'm not sure what else to check. Does anyone have any suggestions?

check the DNS entry of the site is unworking on eventviewer dns log.

or/and
check the MTU packet size, it should resolve your VPN
DrTCP for fix MTU size transmission
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home
only experienced user, not developer

Thanks for the suggestions redge. I checked the Event Viewer and there are no DNS problems reported there. I also checked the MTU settings and made some adjustments but it still doesn't work.

It's got me stumped.
