MAC <-> PC support?

Post by Marty »

Hi, I support a small office of 5 or 6 PC's running Windows XP. I would like to setup some kind of VNC solution that gives me access to these users' desktops, and UltraVNC SC seems to be perfect. When I first mentioned VNC to provide remote support, the users were understandably uneasy with me being able to access their machines at will. Having them be able to request support is a much more comfortable alternative.

The only potential problem is this: I work most of the time on a Mac g4 Powerbook running OSX. I read on the sourceforge page that UltraVNC comes with a java client, but I can't seem to figure out how to get that installed.

Can someone suggest how I could best provide support in this manner described above, from a Mac to a group of XP clients?

Thanks in advance!

Marty

Use the products in my signature line. They work great. This is not an SC solution, but it's workable.

As far as the Web browser/Java thingy, it works too. All I had to do was start up FireFox 1.5 for Mac OS X (on Tiger 10.4.3), type in the correct URL and port number, click "yes" to download the Java thingy, and I was connected.
