SC and Video Driver

Post by Alberto »

Hi people,

Why doesn't SC check for the presence of the video driver?
Is this functionality not yet implemented?
If not, Is there a way to implement the video driver in Single Click version?

I use UVNC 19.5 with the video driver and I think that the video driver speeds up the screen updates (this feature is very important).

Sorry for my bad english. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
I have successfully created my SC exe and runned it.
But now after I installed the video drivers on the distant machine,
and when I press "Check Driver" it says :
Driver EXIST

Communication service Not Installed
or can not be checked(Application mode, non admin)
Driver current not ACTIVE

-> I can't run in video driver mode and I don't know why :|
Is there any configuration I need to do? or add a command line option?
Or is it due to permission setting in windows user?

Thank you for your help and Thank you for this great program

Guest,

Did you have a previous version of VNC installed before on your pcs? There has been some problems if a previous version was installed.

Just a thought,

SC and Video Driver

Post by StesubW »

Hi, I have a successfully working SC with encryption, but in some situations (slow internet connections) the video quality and speed is very heavy!
I'd like to use video driver to improve performances.
Now I'm using UltraVnc 1.0.1 Viewer and I can install the video driver on my machine, but how does it work for my users that launch the all-in-one exe created with SC?
Thanks.

video hook driver is only for vnc server and SC
vncviewer don't need video hook driver and not use it.

installing video hook driver
driver installation need admin right access
power user rights access is not enough

This is the biggest reason it is not included in SC....
Else SC would be a admin only util.

But if driver is installed manual, all SC connections use the driver.

Hi Rudi!

I'm using UltraVNC SC 20.3 in Repeater-Mode II for helping my customers remotely. But I need a maximum speed! So I'm very interested in using the VideoDriver together with SC.

In your posting above you say:
But if driver is installed manual, all SC connections use the driver
I've installed the driver manually before (using the current "Ultr@VNC Video Driver Silent Setup" from ultravnc.com) and even did a reboot. The driver should work, because I can see it in the device-manager:

Image

In the directory where I start SC there is only winvnc.exe (the SC-Version) and vnchooks.dll - the "normal" UltraVNC is NOT installed on the PC.

I open a dos-box an start SC via a DOS-commandline:
winvnc.exe -id 1234 -connect myrepeatercomputer::5500 -noregistry

I open the properties:

when I click "check driver"

I suppose, the message "Driver current not ACTIVE" tells me, that my current UltraVNC-SC-Server-Session does not use the mirror driver so that the speed is poor.

What am I doing wrong? Do I have to install additional programs (perhaps the "normal" UltraVNC) just to use SC?

And a second problem: When I check the box "low accuracy ( turbo speed )", close the properties and open the properties again, my setting is lost: the checkbox is unchecked again.

Thanks for helping me and for creating such an amazing software :)

Do you have installed Mirror driver remotely ?

Why not use UltraVncSC based on REL1.00 (TEST) (second part) on same page
http://sc.uvnc.com/index.php?section=19

repack your SC and include the updated winvnc.exe ( this build able use video hook driver)

I'm still confused about building video driver into SC.
I have tried the REL 1.00 version, which crashed both on win2k and XP machines.
Please, help.
(symptoms are the same as described in the post above by
RobertBinsack)
Thank you.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but the same thing is happening to me. Is there a tutorial or something that shows how to add the video driver? Thanks.
