Remote Mac login worked once, but not again?

Post by welshabaloney »

:| Hello,
I've searched the forums and checked the FAQ and now I'm reaching out.

I followed a great tutorial for remotely connecting from my Win XP at work through an SSL tunnel (Putty) to my Mac at home.

It all worked flawlessly. I can establish the SSH fine, browse my Mac via command line. I ran VNCViewer (1.1.0.1) and was able to remotely access my OSX desktop. I then logged out of OSX and since then, have not been able to VNC into it again (I also physically logged back into the Mac).
The error I get is one I've seen posted before -
Connection Failed - Error reading protocol version. Possible causes: You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses one...etc.
I haven't touched DSM plugins at all and as I say, I was able to connect once beautifully.
Any folks out there familiar with OSX connectivity can advise me?
Thanks
Tony.

Try the Mac OS X programs in my signature.

OSXvnc is a server, and Chicken of the VNC (CotVNC for short) is a client.

Nobody has yet made a single freeware product that is both client and server for Mac OS X.
