I have tried reading through the FAQ's and stickies to no avail...Please help! I am not terribly literate when it comes to networking and router configuration.
I have Ultra VNC server set up at my wife's business and am able to logon no problem from my work desktop, however, i can not log on from either of my networked home computers.
My home computers are behind a router (D-link 604). I have disabled my firewall and set an exception for port 5900 in the firewall. In the router I tried port forwarding or setting a virtual server for port 5900. No luck. I have also set my router firewall to open port 5900.
When I try and logon after entering my password nothing happens, just back to my desktop. once in a while i will see a flash of my wife's desktop, then nothing (back to my desktop). Please help me....

Unable to login to server
same issue
I have the same issue and posted here just yesterday. So maybe someone will help us.
Hi everyone,
Well that is kinda interesting..
Is there a possibility that you can check and see if Ultra VNC will run in a Local Area Network??
There has been some issues with the latest firmware on some Dlink routers
You might want to try a forwarding a diffirent port like 8080 and set the vnc server to listen to port 8080 and see if that makes a difference

I actually remote desktopped into a different computer on the network and ran viewer from there to the local ip of server and it does same thing. Password and then nothing.
NOT even a blank screen or anything. The viewer has completely quit.
I could web desktop into the server, but that goes into a different session than the initial administrator one that I need in.

If it doesnt work on a lan then you have to be missing something.
Any sofware firewalls in the picture??
It took me a lot of time to get my vnc working the first time. It can get frustrating I know been there
I know you can get it working

It's wierd how it works perfectly sometimes then it doesn't the next time! I also reied to login from home and the viewer flashed then quit so I ignored that computer and worked on my other one... well I turned around 5 minutes later and sure enough the viewer was back up and running?? wtf? Usually these things are cut and dried...
