Dunno if this means a 64bit server is required... (unsure if 32bit apps can talk to 64bit devicedrivers).
Anything needing a test 64bit enviroment, I am happy to offer mine..

My configuration: AMD Athlon 64 X2 DualCore 4200+, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (English)The specified location does not contain a compatible driver for your device. If the location contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based system
Itanium doesn't even work on x64, it needs an IA64(which Itanium uses) build.HaTaX wrote:BTW, just the Itanium has a different compiler. The new P4s with 64 bit extensions run the same code as the Athlon64..
I guess the price heavily depends on where you are on earth *g*lithorus wrote:Currently the Opteron 1xx series is actually cheaper than the athlon64 series. Either way you'll end up with a good machine.
No, the 1xx series is for single cpu only. It's socket 939 based (same as athlon 64) and not socket 940 cpu which the 2xx series is.Oliver wrote:I guess the price heavily depends on where you are on earth *g*lithorus wrote:Currently the Opteron 1xx series is actually cheaper than the athlon64 series. However, an Opteron system with e.g. 2 dualcore Opterons (hope the series you mentioned has this ability already) would be ideal since it behaves like 4 processors. A more than moderate assumption if you consider that your "customer" always has more memory and more and better CPUs(The so-called MC-rule
