distributer4.exe OK?

Post by chris09120 »

Hello,
SCIII works fine via uvnc.com. :-D

Tried to setup distributer4.exe from http://sc.uvnc.com/scIII/repeaterII/ on our server, but it did not start. Got always runtime errors also on several other machines and OS.

Any idea??

Can distributer4.exe and the repeater 1.0.4 coexist on one machine?

Can distributer4.exe and the repeater 1.0.4 coexist on one machine?

I am not sure about that question

make sure that you reboot your pc. With the repeater try
vnc crash fix.exe rename it to vncviewer.exe and try it again

http://sc.uvnc.com/SCIII/

please keep in mind that these are still in beta and do have some bugs with them. The repeater works great for my needs and I do hope it will work great for yours:)

Can coexist --> NO
Runtime errors --> caused by missing pem file or port already in use.

443 (SSLlayer) --->If (special)viewer connect --> forward to localport 5900
443 (SSLlayer) --->If (SCIII)server connect --> forward to localport 5500

You can use SCIII and latest viewer (server connect to 443 and viewer to 5900)
You can use winvnc and viewer (server connect to 5500 and viewer 5900)

SSL is implemented as a layer, that listen on 443 and forward to local
ports 5900 and 5500, ports still can be accessed direct.

runtime error

Post by petersea »

As Rudi stated : Runtime errors --> caused by missing pem file or port already in use.

I have two PCs, one is ok to run distributer4, anthoer one is runtime error. I am sure two both have correct pem file. (no .txt existed)

I only can tell the problem PC has Windows firewall opened.
Q1 : anything related to Windows firewall settings?
Q2 : what commands to know the ports had been used?

Use Freeware 'active ports' to determine which program is using port 443 :wink:

With running distributer5, I still get Runtime error (MS visual C++...).

While Active ports running, I see no 443 is not opened.

Please help !

(thanks Chris for Active ports info.)

port 433 runs the layer for the ssl you also have to your vncsever ports open as well..

For example I use
port 443 open and forwarded to the vncserver ( or repeater)
port 5500 open and forwarded to the vncserver( or rpeater)

I also have them on a time limit in the router. They are only active during a certian time intervals.

If you are using SC then you can take your *.pem file and add it to the zip file.

Got stuck on Runtime error (MS visual C++...). Did some digging and found out the following:

Start repeater_SSL.exe OR distributer5.exe. Choose Settings.

The default ports are:
5901 Accept
5500 Listen

Change 5901 to 443. Save. Quit the program.
Restart. I got Runtime error (MS visual C++...). It will not start anymore.
(Does this make sense? The program grabs (by default) port 443 and then tries to grab it again. It finds port 443 in use and reports an error.)

Solution 1: delete file settings.txt
Solution 2: start repeater 1.04 and use it to edit port 443 to sth else. Save...
---

Active ports: found Skype was using port 443 (among others).
Solution: start repeater_SSL.exe or distributer5.exe first. Then start Skype.

Hope this is of use. :)
